Here are some of the comments that previous guests have made about staying at Towancott…
What a wonderful week we spent at Towancott at the beginning of April! The cottage is beautifully located, off the beaten track but within a short walk to a beautiful beach (couple of lovely cafes and restaurants there – the Beach Cafe was great for breakfast!) and a bit longer but really nice walk to the amazing Chapel Porth Beach. The cottage is really unique, with authentic charm and a very spacious garden. Our three daughters (2, 6 and 8) absolutely loved exploring both the cottage and the surroundings. The owners worry about the stairs – you probably should be careful with really young children, but our youngest, 2.5 years old, was perfectly fine. We were a bit worried about the tree house and the youngest one – the owners kindly removed the ladder so the children could explore everything freely.
Everything fully equipped, perfectly clean plus we had lovely scones with clotted cream and jam waiting for us upon arrival. We enjoyed our stay very much, kids keep talking about the garden and the beaches – Thank you so much Susan, we would love to be back. (Jan O., Oxfordshire, April 2018)

“We had an amazing week at Towancott altough the weather wasn’t that great. Highlights of the week included bodyboarding at Chapel Porth (including the walk there), swimming in the mermaid pool, going down Poldark mine, the Eden Project, crabbing, cycling from Wade Bridge to Padstow and lounging in the hammock in the garden. Now home for a rest!” (the L. family, Hertfordshire)

“We had an amazing week here in Cornwall, even though the weather wasn’t that great. Loved the beautiful rugged coastline, Tintagel Castle. Had some wonderful pub food, enjoyed it at the local ‘The Victory’ – very good food and very friendly. Finally we loved staying at this cottage, quaint yet full of mod cons – a trip to remember. We’ll be back!” (the van Zs, The Netherlands)

“We had a really nice short break celebrating our silver wedding anniversary. Cosy log fires in the evening and The Victory was very welcoming and is our idea of the perfect pub. Fantastic sunsets as we stumbled back to the cottage.” (Roger and Donna F, Hampshire)

“We have enjoyed a lovely family holiday during the past 2 weks. The house was perfect, everything we could have asked for. We loved the walk to the beach, although our legs might need time to recover! We spent many days swimming in the mermaid pool and catching crabs. We visited St Ives twice, enjoying the harbour and watching the seals as well as doing some shoppng,. We visited the seal sanctuary and enjoyed Perranporth beach as well as taking some local surf lessons. Home from home!!” (the T. family, Hertfordshire).

“We had a lovely week, really don’t want to go home. Lovely cottage with lots of charm and well equipped. Loved Chapel Porth, expecially body boarding in the rain when we were the only people on the beach. The walk up to Wheal Coates well worth it, and the Hedgehog ice creams too. Also enjoyed Padstow, St Michael’s Mount and the fabulous waves at Porthtowan beach. Highly recommend The Victory – great food and very friendly”. (the Q. family, Nottinghamshire)

“We had a lovely week here, back again for a second time! We’ve been very lucky with the weather, beautiful, sunny days at the end of the week. We enjoyed the caves at Portreath this time and searching for Bassett baths. Another Excellent meal at The Victory Inn and once again the cottage was perfect for us. We don’t want to go home. Thank you”. (the T. family, Leicestershire)

“The weather has been good and we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The provisions are very, very good. Chapel Porth was so attractive, expecially as we approached the bay after walking from Towan Cross. We all enjoyed hedgehog icecreams! We made our first visit to the Miniack theatre and had a lovely visit to St Ives. Thank you. (the C. family, Cheshire/London).

What a wonderful cottage – just pefect and so thoughtul to provide a cream tea, milk and othe essential here. Lots of overcast skies; nonetheless we had an absolute blast. Towancott is super – thank you. (the B. family, London)

A lovely time in a welcoming and frendly cottage. Whether rain or sunshine, we always felt comfortable and at home and on sunny days it was glorious in the garden. Chapel Porth on a very windy day at high tide is a sight to behold. Look forward hopefully to a return visit. (the K. family, London)

We had a wonderful week in Porthtowan and have very much enjoyed staying at Towancott. The cottage is well equipped, comfortable and full of character, sitting just above the valley the location lent itself to foing down to the beach for a coule of hours. As well as bodyboarding and surfing in Porthtowan, we recommend Kayaking on the Helford river (if you’re lucky an inquisitive seal may pop up to say hello) and walks along the cliffs. Our favourite place to eat was the Blue Bar, primarly because of the fantastic views of the sunset. Thank you for letting us stay in your wonderful home”. (Kate L, West Yorkshire)
